There is a large variety of activities available close to Glebe Farm Cottages. The local village, Gunthorpe, is one mile away and hosts a variety of restaurants including Indian cuisine, Italian cuisine, Tom Brown’s Brassiere and two pubs.

The town of Bingham is only two miles from the cottages where you can enjoy the local shops and cafes and have access to the post office.

Various activities are accessible including, fishing, pony trekking, farm parks and miles of cycle paths and walks.

If you fancy taking in some of the region’s history the Newark Castle is a great place to start. This is the impressive remains of a medieval castle destroyed during the Civil War. The castle overlooks the River Trent and the formal gardens.

Alternatively, pay a visit to the Lincoln Cathedral. An important religious and tourist centre that attracts over 250,000 visitors each year, this cathedral was commissioned by William the Conqueror.

The cottages are also ideally suited for visiting The Major Oak of Sherwood Forest. Estimated to be over 1000 years old, the world’s most famous living tree is believed to have once been used to shelter Robin Hood and his band of Merrie Men.

The idyllic town of Southwell is the perfect place to spend an afternoon. Stroll around and you will discover a host of traditional pubs where you can be sure of a warm welcome.

Otherwise, why not spend some time enjoying shopping or enjoying the sporting facilities in nearby Nottingham city. Holme Pierpont (The National Water Sports Centre), Ice stadium, Trent Bridge cricket ground and Nottingham Tennis Centre are a few of the excellent venues close by.
